Chin Implants and Cheek Implants

Chin Implant and Cheek Implants / Augmentation

Chin Implant / Chin Augmentation:

Chin Implant, also referred to as Chin Augmentation or Mentoplasty, creates a balance between the chin and other facial features giving the face better harmony. Chin augmentation may be done in conjunction with Rhinoplasty. The implant may be inserted one of two ways. One method is through the mouth. Another method goes through an incision on the underside of the chin, inserting the implant between the bone and chin tissue. That method leaves a faint scar that is barely visible. Usually a liquid diet is adhered to a couple of days following surgery. Non-strenuous activities, work/school may be resumed within one week. After surgery you will have a more balanced profile and pleasing facial contour.

Cheek Implants / Cheek Augmentation:

Cheek Implants or Malar Augmentation give patients fuller cheekbones by creating a more sculpted look. They may also reduce the depth of nasal-labial folds. Cheek implants come in different sizes and are inserted through an incision in the mouth or below the lower eyelids. This procedure can be done in conjunction with a face lift or eyelid surgery. It is done as an out-patient under anesthesia. Within the first week sutures are removed. Swelling will diminish with time. Keep in mind, the final results are not apparent until months later. Patients need to be patient while the swelling diminishes.
